Corund Baroque Orchestra

The formation of the orchestra originated with the desire to form an instrumental partner to the vocal ensemble and began in 2000 with a continuo group, led by Felix Knecht, violoncello. This core formation performed in numerous performances in Switzerland and on a tour in the US of the complete motets of Bach. The expansion of this instrumental ensemble to a full baroque orchestra under the leadership of the Swedish violinist Elisabeth Bodén followed in 2002.

The first highly acclaimed concert of the B-minor Mass was given in Switzerland followed by a tour in the US to festivals on the East Coast, and was celebrated by audiences and media alike. In 2003, the group began also performing purely instrumental programs, including an acclaimed series presenting the complete Bach concertos for 2-4 harpsichords.
